May your roots grow wide and ever-deep, and your branches bloom tall and ever-expand, as you become the Pillar of Light - a Tree of Life - bridging Heaven and Earth.
As people come to receive and heal, the questions often arise - where do I begin? What do I need to do to heal all these pains I feel? How can I navigate my awakening (its de-stabilizing!)
And my first answer is always ... my dear, you need to ground. You must be rooted in your body and the Earth to make these changes your spirit is asking you for.
So, why ground?
You are here to EMBODY the New Myth - higher, Unity Consciousness. To allow these higher frequencies to descend, you must be well connected to the Earth: as you are a connection, a bridge, between Heaven and Earth (the spiritual, higher density planes of consciousness and the physical plane). You cannot be a bridge if you are not as connected to the Earth as you are to the stars. You cannot be a bridge if you are not in your body. You're not here on this Earth, in a physical body, to float on up into the ethers and escape the contrast of third/fourth density reality. You came for an Earthly, physical experience: consciousness experiencing yourself as a human. Many of you came to experience full awakening through your humanness. You incarnated at a time of great awakening and of massive shifts on the planet. To fully awaken on this Earth means to fully EMBODY Spirit - your Highest, Celestial Self and the Golden, Christed, Unity Consciousness. To fully awaken is to allow Spirit to descend fully into matter (you, in a body), which is affecting, amplifying, the Great Change as more people accept their soul and intuition's invitation. Ascension on Earth is the path forward. Becoming fully awakened, masters of Consciousness as you co-create a new reality.
To reach that point, it begins with being connected to the Earth, as your bodies are made of and come from the Earth.
Being grounded allows you to be fully in your body, conscious of your surroundings, and both present and available for whatever may happen.
When you aren't grounded, you may feel "floaty", just slightly above your body, hanging out in the ethers. While this can make for lofty meditations, you are also susceptible to taking on foreign energies. Foreign energies may come from other people or even entities. If you feel like you're a psychic sponge, the first aspect to work on is grounding into the Earth.
Even if you aren't taking on foreign energies, if you're not rooted into the Earth, present in your body and available, you simply will be unable to effectively move energy through your body - including processing old pains, traumas, beliefs, fears and stories. Complete inner alchemy (transmutation of lower frequency energies - those stories rooted in fear, lack, doubt, pain, separation, etc - into higher frequency energies) is most probable only when you are in your body.
I resonate with the Pleiadian approach to spirituality, which "involves a full-body, cellular enlightenment and/or ascension. In other words, the goal is not to leave your body and transcend the physical; the goal is to transcend your belief in and fear of the limitations of the physical plane. You accomplish this by spiritually descending into matter fully for the purpose of clearing lower-frequency energies such as repressed emotions, belief systems, judgements, control and other contracted energies that are the source of limitation in the third dimension. As this is done, you make way for your higher Self to completely blend with you, as the Christ, Quan Yin and Buddha did. This results in full chakra, cellular enlightenment or ascension instead of escape."
"This spiritual goal requires you to be in your body, and thus there is a need for grounding."
So, how can I get myself grounded?
There are infinite approaches to grounding. Depending on who you are and what you currently need in your spiritual journey, the method to ground may vary. One day a grounding meditation will be perfect, another day you'll feel the need to get physically connected with the Earth.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Slow Down
As simple as this one sounds, it helps. Take a pause. Notice your breathing. Follow your breath for a few cycles of breath.
When you're walking, slow your pace, and notice through all your senses.
Sit down and with your awareness, do a body scan from head to toe. Notice any sensations that are alive throughout your body. Go nice and slow. Simply noticing, not changing.
Listen to meditative music that features sounds of the Earth, wooden flutes, drums, etc. Allow yourself to be present with the sounds for at least one song.
2. Get Connected to Pachamama!
It's time to get outside! Just being surrounded by nature helps you ground, naturally. Locate a nearby state or national park and go and immerse yourself in Earth energy. Enjoy a slow hike. Find a spot on a stone or fallen tree or the Earth herself, and just sit and be. Notice your surroundings. Breathe in the fresh air.
Practice Earthing: Take off those shoes, get your feet in the Earth! Walk barefoot. There are chakras in the bottom of your feet. For many, those chakras are not active. Earthing helps wake those chakras up, and when the chakras in the feet are activated, it is easier to ground. Feel a connection to the Earth with each step you take. This is great during a slow hike in nature, or just simply in the backyard.
Another way to connect with Pachamama is to get your hands dirty! Start a garden; the black thumb becomes green with practice, with remembering your connection to the Earth Mother. Dig a hole in your yard, feel the dirt, touch the worms. Plant a tree. Tend to the seeds you plant. (And perhaps water your garden barefoot!) Live in the city?? Get some live houseplants. Connect with the Earth through the soil you place in the pot. Through connecting with the *life* of your plant(s).
3. Grounding Meditation
Begin each day with a grounding meditation. These kinds of meditations are aimed at assisting you get connected within your body and/or to the Earth. Grounding meditations build a spiritual density within every cell of your body, beginning to make way for your Higher Self to completely blend with you. If you don't know any, stay tuned for a few grounding meditations that I love to share, either in ceremony or with clients.
4. Food is of the Earth & Spirit
Food is great way to ground in. The more you connect with your body's needs, the more you will be able to tune into what foods would best nourish you in the moment. Often, root vegetables are excellent to help you feel rooted and in your body. The cleaner you choose to eat, the more connected you will feel with the vitality of the food and the Earth from which it came.
Anytime you have a meal, slow it down. Be present with each bite. Turn off the TV and set down your phone in another room. Being grounded is also about being present in your body.
Another beautiful way to ground in is with Grandmother Cacao. Cacao is a rooting, grounding, in-body plant medicine. Check out our upcoming events for future Cacao ceremonies to learn to connect with Cacao in a conscious, present way.
